Kilimanjaro Stonebridge Corporate would like to thank all friends, insurers and customers who supported us in the first year as a corporate sponsor of Sparks, a specialist children’s medical charity. As you may be aware, in July 2009 Andrew Thumwood and Ben Burford attempted to climb Mount Kilimanjaro in order to raise funds for (and awareness of) Sparks. We are pleased to be able to tell everyone that both Andy and Ben, Directors, successfully climbed Kilimanjaro in July 2009 taking the total raised in the first year past £18,000. Not resting on our laurels our plans for fundraising continue in earnest throughout 2010 with continual donations from our clients both existing and new, competing in the London Marathon and a team of 8 Stonebridge staff tackling the 3 Peaks challenge in June. The challenge is for all 8 of us to complete climbing the three highest peaks in the UK within 24hours. New Appointments to the Board We are pleased to advise the following appointments: - Paul Beck joined Stonebridge in June 2010 as a director to oversee the company's expansion plans. He will also take the lead in acquisitions and new product development. With over 22 years experience within the industry, Paul brings a wealth of experience to the company. Damian Hayes has been promoted from Renewals and Servicing Manager to Servicing Director. Damian has been with the company from the start and will be well known to many of our customers. He has appointed a new sales manager, Alan Passmore, and between them they will be overseeing our Client facing servicing teams. Administration Manager David Fry has been promoted to Operations and Compliance Director. David joined us in 2008 and has been a key member of the company, responsible for the company infrastructure and regulatory culture. He has over 17 years of industry experience in various sectors of the industry. We wish them all well in their new roles. Exam Success We would like to pass our congratulations to Shane Pace and David Le Brocq who have successfully completed their exams to both become Cert CII. London Marathon 2010 In April Yanick Lynch ran the London Marathon for Sparks. His appetite having been wetted, he is planning to run a whole series of Marathons next year to raise even more. This year we have significantly added to the overall total we have raised following some key events that have tested staff to their limits! These events, along with our regular “Dress Down” days, “swear box” fines and other activities, we have smashed our original target but are not resting on our laurels and will be continuing to raise as much as possible for this fantastic cause. We were blessed with brilliant sunshine and in addition to enjoying a fantastic day, managed to raise over £1500 for the Charity. Congratulations go to Gregg Taylor of the What? Group, winner of the inaugural Stonebridge Trophy.
3 Peaks Challenge In August 2010 seven members of staff undertook the 3 Peaks challenge. This involves climbing the three largest mountains in Britain in 24 hours. The team had to endure adverse weather, losing their way in the dark and extreme fatigue, the challenge was completed with over £6,000 being raised. Well done to everyone involved.
